the isp...well, the first part
1. social issue article....in hand in folder / printed (to be shared with class but that's not for today)
in a paragraph, briefly analyse this article: what is about? what is the "issue" in question ? and what does the article reveal about this issue
2. content questions
3. issues web ( one side on teenage society in general, the other on the world presented in your novel)
4. narrative voice handout - the novels are told in a first person narration style (the person telling the story is in the story)...this has advantages and disadvantages. Complete the Narrative Voice handout for your novel ( "on the lines"means things clearly stated by the author...facts of some kind; " among the lines" means things that are answered by details revealed in more than one place in the book..the reader must put these facts together to create a complete picture; "between the lines" are things that start with details in the text but the reader's knowledge and awareness is necessary for understanding; 'beyond the lines" means things that require answers not given in the text at all. these are the themes that the reader can take from the text and apply to real-life situations.
5. complete the conflict concept map using three types of conflict (person vs person, person vs society and person vs self) ...find an example of each...explain what the character did,..what the result of that was and any recommendations for better decisions in the future (you can omit the predictions section)
6. a brochure (six panels in microsoft word) the panels : 1. the issue (title / images); 2. what is it / detailed description 3. at least one chart / graph that includes statistics on the issue 4. a list of websites offering further information on the issue (and brief descriptions of the sites) 5. identify and explain local agencies dealing with the issue 6. pop culture connections: famous examples (celebrities / movies / songs etc) which deal with the issue
...the above is the minimum ....feel free to expand / develop
ISP TOTAL IS 15% of final mark
